De Kriek test

It’s about Belgian beers.

De kriek-test

Kriek is een befaamd lekker biertje in België. Het staat vooral bekend als een ‘vrouwenbiertje’ omdat het zo zoet is. Er bestaat niet zoiets als ‘de’ kriek. Want kriek komt in verschillende merken. Omdat we wilden weten welke nu de beste is (volgens ons) besloten we een testje te doen. We kozen vier verschillende soorten kriekbier die Nami blind zou proeven.

Alle vier de bieren werden voor het proeven op dezelfde temperatuur bewaard en werden vervolgens opgediend in hetzelfde soort glas. Dit is geen professioneel onderzoek, gewoon een leuke subjectieve test ;)

Het eerste glas bevatte Mort subite dit was Nami’s opinie:

Geur	Smaak	Welk merk?
8/10	8/10	Ik raadde verkeerd, en dacht dat dit de ‘Max’ kriek was.

Het tweede glas bevatte Belle-vue Kriek

Geur	Smaak	Welk merk?
4/10	5/10	Belle-vue (juist gegokt! :D) De biersmaak is hier veel te uitgesproken. Het bevat ook weinig Krieken.

Het derde glas bevatte Lindemans Kriek

Geur	Smaak	Welk merk?
7/10	7/10	Lindemans! Juist geraden, joepiee. Dit bier was lekker.

Het vierde glas bevatte Max Kriek

Geur	Smaak	Welk merk?
7/10	6,5/10	Ik raadde verkeerd, en dacht dat dit de mort subite was.

Besluit:

Nami’s favoriet is mort subite. Tot mijn verbazing dus, ik dacht namelijk dat mijn favoriet de Max was. Maar die heb ik lager gescoord dan de Subite.
Ik vond het leuk en uitdagend om deze test te doen en ik raad jullie aan dit ook eens te doen. Zo kan je op een relatief objectieve wijze uitmaken wat je het lekkerste vind. Vanaf nu bestel ik mort subite J

Review Yog-inn Rethymno

          Review Yog-inn; Greek frozen yoghurt & sweet treats

Op onze uitstap naar Rethymnon botsten we op dit kleine maar fijne frozen yoghurt shopje (We hadden dit stiekem opgezocht). Een klein detail, wij zijn froyo verslaafd!
We hebben de froyo leren kennen in België (overgewaaid van Amerika) en waren dus benieuwd naar de Griekse variant. 

In België heb je ondertussen al heel wat Frozen yoghurt winkels. De een wat beter dan de ander. Onze favoriet is Moochie (zie andere review). 

We hadden eerst een leuke froyo shop gezien in Heraklion. Maar die bleek helaas te duur te zijn voor ons studentjes. We hadden de hoop op froyo bijna opgegeven... Maaaar toen we rethymnon bezochten en na wat research stapten we de yog-inn binnen.
We werden vriendelijk begroet door een echte Britse dame. Zij gaf meteen info over de soorten yoghurt, de toppings, mogelijke combinaties enzovoort. Wij waren gewonnen voor het idee.

Eerst en vooral waren de kleuren van het winkeltje heel aantrekkelijk. Het nodigde uit om binnen te stappen. Klein maar fijn. Het is gesitueerd net naast de remondifontein.
De prijzen zijn echt democratisch. Voor een 'klein' potje (wat dus al redelijk groot was) betaal je €2,20 en als je  €0,80 bijlegt, mag je zoveel toppings nemen als je wilt. Dit hebben wij dus ook gedaan :) Ook de grotere potten zijn betaalbaar.

Voor de gene onder jullie die niet zo een fan zijn van froyo, zijn er ook andere keuzes. Zo kan je er ook verse fruitsalade krijgen, softijs (ook lactose vrij), milkshakes, drankjes,... 

Loti nam een kleintje natuur met als toppings: fruit! ( vers! fruit). Nami nam aardbei met als toppings verschillende soorten chocolade en fruit.

We waren aangenaam verrast door het smakenpallet. De yoghurt was licht, lekker fris en ideaal als tussendoortje of lunch. Je kon buiten op een kleiner terrasje zitten. Het was dus zeker de ontdekking van de dag!

Positieve punten:
-smaak van de yoghurt
-klantvriendelijkheid
-aankleding zaak
-prijzen
-lekker en vers fruit

Negatieve punten:
-beperkte keuze aan smaken van yoghurt
-beperkte keuze aan toppings
-weinig zitplaatsen

Besluit: We geven deze zaak 8.5/10 We raden jullie aan om hier eens binnen te springen, wanneer jullie Rethymnon bezoeken :D

On our trip to Rethymno our eyes fell on a little froyo shop (actually we looked it up :p). A small detail, we are addicted to frozen yoghurt. We got to know the product in Belgium (originally from America ?) en we were very curious what the Greek version tasted like. In our country we allready have al lot of shops. We prefer Moochie, you can see the review on our blog.

When we visited Iraklion we saw another shop (chill box) but it was to expensive for us students. We were desperate and thought we wouldn’t find froyo in Crete. BUT after a bit of research we found the Yog-Inn when visiting Rethymno.

A very nice British lady welcomed us. She gave us a lot of information about the product, the toppings, …

The shop is very nice decorated. Its small but cute, there are a lot of bright colors, its located near the Remoni Fountain. Yog-inn offers great prices. For a small cup (it is huge !) you pay € 2.20 and for € 0.80 extra you can choose as many toppings you like! (And yes we took one ;) ) But even the bigger cups are not expensive.

There are also other possibilities for those who don’t like froyo. Yog-inn offers also fresh fruitsalads, soft ice (even without lactose), milkshakes, drinks,…

Loti took a small froyo cup nature with fresh fruits as toppings. Nami took strawberry with chocolate and kiwi.

We were amazed by the matching flavours. The yoghurt was light, tasty, fresh and ideal as a snack or lunch. You could sit outside (in the shade, luckily.

It was the suprise of the day.

Positive aspects:

-        The taste of the yoghurt

-        Nice service

-        Nice shop

-        Good prices

-        Good and fresh fruits

Workpoints:

-        Limited taste choises (but the yoghurt you could have is very good)

-        Limited options of toppings

-        Limited seat options

Conclusion: an 8,5 on 10. We recommend it to jump inside the shop and take a frozen yoghurt.

Review The Red Bicycle Cafe in Chania

Eindelijk terug van weg geweest! Na een lange pauze zijn we er weer volledig klaar voor. We zijn net terug van Kreta en beginnen met een review van een restaurantje die we ontdekten tijdens onze excursie naar Chania. Laten we even de situatie schetsen, stel je een gloeiend hete dag voor, met een lange wandeltocht en veel info. Je raad het al tegen de middag waren we hongerig en dorstig. Dus slenterden we door het prachtige Chania opzoek naar iets lekkers en betaalbaars (je weet wel studentenbudget ;) ) om te eten. We bekeken verschillende menukaarten en belandden uiteindelijk bij The Red Bicycle Cafe. Een gezellig restaurantje die, rarara, gedecoreerd was met rode fietsen.

 Een vriendelijke jonge dame overtuigde ons met de troeven van het restaurant (lekker! goedkoop! snelle service!) en ja hoor: zodra we bestelden, was onze drank daar al (godzijdank!). Na de grote (echt niet normaal) menukaart te hebben onderzocht, besloot ik voor een tonijnsalade te gaan met brood. Nami koos voor een lekkere burger met frietjes.

Na een kleine 10 minuten zagen we 2 gigantische porties op ons afkomen. En inderdaad die waren voor ons! Voor deze prijs (beide gerechten 6.5 euro) hadden we heel wat minder verwacht. Maar was het ook lekker??

De salade was alvast heerlijk. De salade bestond niet uit enkele slablaadjes, maar was een grote en gevarieerde portie van groenten. Ik had zonder olie gevraagd (overdosis in het hotel :p ) maar er was wel een heerlijk lichte vinaigrette op die een subtiele smaak gaf en net dat iets meer pit. De tonijn (weliswaar uit blik) was van uitstekende kwaliteit.

(Nami) Ook de hamburger kon bekoren. Ik had het gevoel mee te doen aan een hamburger challenge waar je een gigantische burger op moest eten. Ok ZOOO gigantisch was hij niet maar hij had toch wel een grotere proportie dan de hamburgers in België. Het brood smaakte goed, het vlees was ook lekker en de groentjes supervers. En wonder boven wonder waren de frietjes ook van goede kwaliteit. Als Belg zijnde worden die sterk onder de loep genomen in het buitenland. De frietjes in onze home town frituur zijn nog steeds de beste, toch waren de frietjes in dit restaurantje niet min!

Conclusie: Als je naar Kreta gaat en op uitstap naar Chania (over die uitstap komt ook nog een recensie) eet dan zeker je lunch in the red bicycle. Je zal het je niet beklagen! (en je portemonee ook niet)

English version

Finally back in business. After a long break we are finally ready to go on with this blog. We just got out of the plane from Crete and to start we decided to write a review of a little resto in Chania: The red bicycle. Imagine the situation: Hot weather, burning sun, a lot of information (we were on an excursion), and a lot of walking… You’ve guessed it already. We were very hungry and thirsty. So we looked for a payable restaurant (we are students, so money is precious). After a (not so long) search we found the red bicycle. A cosy restaurant decorated with a lot of…red bicycles.  A friendly lady invited us in and gave information about the food. It was all we were looking for. Good service, good price and ofcourse good food. Immediately after saying our drink order they were bringing us drinks (THANK GOD).  After studying the really big menu Loti decided to take the salade with tuna and Nami decided to take the hamburger with fries.

After 10 minutes we saw two big plates coming straight to us. We couldn’t believe our eyes. They were for us! For that price ( €6,50 each plate) we didn’t expected that much. But did it also taste good?

The salad was definitely delicious. It wasn’t just green leaves of salad, but a giant variated portion of vegetables. I asked the dish without oil (we had enough of oil in our hotel). There was a delightful light vinaigrette on wich was giving an extra to the dish itself. The tuna ( out of a can) was good quality.

(nami). The hamburger with fries made me happy. I had the feeling I was competing in a as-much-as-you-can-eat challenge. To be fair, it wasn’t THAT gigantic (like you see in America, a bit unhealthy) but he was a lot bigger then the hamburgers in Belgium. The bread tasted good, the meat was tasty and the vegetables cold and fresh. Now the big miracle: the fries were good. As me being a Belgian girl I’m being very critical with fries from different countries. Belgium fries are still the best, but those fries were also yummy!

Conclusion: If you go to Crete and on a trip to Chania (about that trip we’re going to write an other review) take your lunch in the Red Bicycle. It will not let you down.

The story of a time traveller.

( HEY people, long time no see ;). I'm writing a story that popped up into my mind this afternoon. I'm posting the first chapter here and hope for your ideas, comments, toughts on this little project of mine. Hope you like it ^^ - Namitjuh) 

Hi, I’m a time traveller. You did not except that, didn’t you?
Well, I’m not the cool kind you now think of. First of all I don’t have the Tardis. Second of all. I’m a goldfish….

There I had you for a moment!! LOL. Ok no  I will stop kidding around this is a very serious matter…. I’m a girl who hates goldfishes and can time travel. This is my story.

The story of a time traveller.

Chapter 1.

Shit happens. Always. But this shit was very brown. ‘ What do you mean you can’t go to the ball?’ I asked my friend. ‘ I’m not going without you, Eva’ Eva looked guilty ‘ I’m very sorry Abbie but my father is –‘ ‘ annoying, old fashioned, ugly’ ‘ Abbie !’ Eva yelled at me. I don’t think she should ever yell at me. Please I’m like her best friend. You don’t yell at besties. Or even humans for that matter. ‘I’m sorry I have to go’ Eva hugged me and ran off. Ok… There I was. In the hallway of a highschool in London, alone, by myself,..; This is getting too depressed. Next week was the ball, that glitter and glamour school thing we stole from the Americans. And I had no date and , thanks to Eva’s dad, no friend to go. Yep I had only one friend in school. No, nothing to be sad about. I’m friendly with everyone but I just don’t trust so easily.

I’m very into History. Apparently I’m the only one. Why? I really like it and maybe the fact that sometimes I just randomly disappear and pop up in another time and place. Like now. Middle of my History class. For the questions begin. When I disappear in 2015 to another time and I’m sitting in a public place, others still see me. Well, it’s not ME exactly it’s a projection of me. They see what they want to see. If the teacher wants me to answer her question I will. Why do I randomly pop away? I don’t know exactly. The only thing I know at this moment in time ( you get me ? haha ) is that I’m send there with a reason.

The walking dead
( Game version)



‘ I .. I did it.. I got him’ Clementine said while blood was hanging all over the place. The walker was not moving anymore.
‘ great, you did a good job’ Lee said weakly.
Clementine grabbed the gun and came closer to Lee. ‘ we have to go’ ‘ I can’t sweet pie ‘ ‘ but .. you can’t become a walker! .. my parents … they .. it’s horrible. You can’t become one, please don’t’ Her voice was filled with despair.
‘ there’s only one way… you know that’ Lee hated this. He didn’t want her to do it but.. there was no other way. Why did he get bitten? Why ? he was so angry at himself for that.
‘ I don’t know .. if I .. can’ she looked at the gun she was holding.
There fell a silence.
‘ you have to shoot me honey’ Lee’s voice cracked while he felt himself being drawn from this earth.
‘ no.. no’ Clementine cried.
‘ it’s terrible, I know. I had to shoot my brother’ Lee felt himself become weaker and weaker. She had to do it quickly before he … ‘ It’s very hard but you can do it , Clem. You can do it’
‘ but-‘
‘ I don’t want you to see me like that and I definitely don’t want to hurt you’
Clementine looked to the ground and made a decision. It was his wish, she had to do it for him. Lee had helped her so many times and even now, when he was going to die he looked after her. ‘ ok, I can do it Lee. I can I can’
‘ find Omid and Christa. They .. they will look out for you’ He took a breath ‘ and stay out of the cities, it’s not worth the risk’ He hoped she would be fine. If there was some sort of afterlife , he would want to look upon his sweet pie and protect her but … he didn’t know that for sure and he couldn’t protect her forever. She has to be strong to survive.
‘ ok lee’ She was crying although she tried not to.  Lee had not the strength anymore but he wanted to say one last thing.
‘ and – ‘
Lee’s eyes closed and Clementine almost started to panic ‘ What ? what?’ she yelled in her high pitched voice.
His eyes opened again and their eyes met for a moment ‘ I’ll miss you’
‘ me to’ clementine answered with tears rolling out on her cheeks.
Clementine slowly got up and raised her gun. Her arms were shaking and she felt more afraid than she ever had. ‘ I – ‘ she made a weird sound but she had to do it.  She had to.  Do it for Lee.
she looked one more time into her friends eyes. I hope I see you again sometime. While she looked away she pulled the trigger.

note :
I really wanted to write some sort of story about this scene.  This is a really good game, it did make me cry and I never cried before in games. The characters are really good written and there’s development in everyone. Also the makers of this game like to play with your feels.

Little Stories Part 1Elsa & Anna

‘ Elsa! Elsa!’ anna shouted trough the library door. ‘ Ssssst It’s a library for god’s sake’ the librarian looked angrily at her. ‘ sorry sir sorry but – my sister is here and I wanted to say that’ anna was doing random stuff with her arms ’ – well I don’t think that I should tell you but-‘ BANG Anna had , in her excitement, hit the old vase that was standing right next to the door. ‘ oh no ‘ she looked with big eyes to the librarian. His face was shifting , like he was deciding to be angry or not. ‘ I am so sorry –‘ ‘ Anna?’ Elsa walked out of the silent room. She saw the vase and had to do her best not to laugh. Because she knew that Anna was a bit … unhandy sometimes. Especially when she was excited. ‘ I have something to tell you!’ Anna yelled, again. ‘ what ? what?’ Elsa runned to her. ‘ we are going on a trip’ ‘ a trip? To where?’ Elsa questioned. ‘ to the forest’ ‘ our parents didn’t mention anything about a trip’ there fell a silence. Anna smiled widely. Then it became clear to Elsa and she began to smile to. ‘ oooh a secret trip’ she whispered.’ Yep I have it all planned out, in here’ she pointed with her little finger at her head. ‘ no time to waste then, come on’

The night fell and the sisters had reached their destination. ‘ now we just have to do this’ Elsa , as the oldest sister, pulled out a small tent.  ‘ I found it at the attic’ after a few minutes they were struggling with the tent. ‘ it will work! It must!’ little anna shouted.  Just when the tent was finally set up Anna tripped over the rope and .. ‘ noooo’ the whole tent collapsed. Elsa hit her hand against her head. ‘ sorry’ Anna looked up from under the broken tent. Elsa couldn’t be angry at her little sister and smiled, despite the fact that they had to do it all over again.
Finally the tent was set up. ‘ okay now we are going to tell stories’ Anna opened a bag , took 2 cups out and one giant thermos.  After they served themselves they took a blanket. ‘ you start!’ Anna said while she was blowing at her hot coco.

‘ that was beautiful’ ‘ I know’ ‘ I want to see the snowman’  Elsa looked to Anna’s head. ‘ what is it?’ ‘ there he is’ ‘ whaaat?’ ‘ the little snowman’  Anna looked with big eyes to her sister. ‘  IS IT ON MY HEAD  ? ‘ ‘ yeah it is’ ‘ WOOOOW SO COOOL’ Anna laughed and accidently slammed on it. The snowman collapsed and her hair was covered in snow. ‘ ohno , I didn’t mean to do that, sorry snowman!’ ‘ you can call him olaf’ ‘ sorry olaf’ they looked at each other and started laughing.
While they were watching at the stars elsa looked at the cup of her sister. ‘ you haven’t drank?’ ‘ its to hot’ ‘ oh well ‘Elsa waved with her hand at the drink. ‘ now it should be a little bit colder’. Anna wanted to take a sip but her chocolate was transformed into one giant ice-cube. ‘ woops’ Elsa said , looking guilty to it. She thought Anna was going to be sad or angry but she just looked at her with those big eyes and said:  ‘ it’s not bad , I like ice cream ’.

Comic Con

COMIC CON 2014

This is THE event where you should go. What is comic con?
I'm not so good at describing things but i'll give it a shot.( If i make mistakes , let me know)
Comic con exists out of panels ( with casts), workshops, .. In the begining it was almost only on comic books but it evolved to movies, series, videogames, anime,  everything you can dream of.
There are previews of new upcoming movies, interviews with actors, directors, ..

It's a paradise for us and a lot of other people.

I watched a few panels, especially the marvel ones ( because omg i Just LOVE marvel-movies )
There are a lot of new movies coming up from them ( avengers 2 , Guardians of the galaxy 1 AND 2 already announced, captain america 3, and a new season of the agents of shield, Ant man, ... )
They show footage of the movie but only the public inside of comic con can see those. So we , people at home, just have to wait for the official trailers.

Study- tips for summer

Some of you will frown at reading this. WHAT studying in summer ??? But for some of us it's not a question mark. It's real.

In College you have to do exams, where you failed at, for a second time in august - september, so that means that you have to study in your summer vacation.
Because it's so difficult to study when everyone else in your area has the time of their lifes, i'm going to give you some study tips.

1. Work hard, play hard
Study hard but take great breakes, go to the beach, cinema, go out with your friends. ( it's vacation afterall)

2. make a scheme 
Even if you don't follow it, it can be handy. It doesn't have to be in detail , for example :
Monday : study day / tuesday : day off but in the evening study. You can always make one in detail but that's more difficult to follow.

3. Throw away any disturbing items ( not litteraly)
I don't mean you have to throw your iphone in the trash but put it on a place far away of your study place. Cover your playstation/xbox/wii , put away your laptop ( except if you need it to study, but then make sure your internet connexion is off). In your breaks you can check for texts or facebook-whatever.

4. Environment 
Study on a place that you like most. Good weather outside? study outside ( in the shadow ). Study inside if you like, make sure there's enough light ( not to much) and a little airco if it gets to warm. Aks your mom/dad to make some refreshing things ( or make it yourself * ) You can put on music ! Some people say that really helps. If you take breaks, don't sit all the time on your table : go for a trip with your dog, dance! , sing or do a sport.( short breaks) if you take a long break you can go with friends ( because having fun with friends is the best way to motivate you) to the beach, bars, ..

* we will put on recipes for cocktails/smoothies/..

5 Choose your best way of studying
My favorite methode is writing everything down. It takes more time, hurts my hand , but it's helpfull for me. I understand it better that way.
Also the ears are a great way to remember things : you can read it out loud.
Maybe your best way is making a summary , coloring everything, ... you just have to find out what's your best method.


And don't forget to take breaks and have FUN !

The first challenge

Hey ! This is Nami speaking!
Everything what's going on i explain in this video but because i'm friendly today i'm going to repeat it here ( in case you didn't understand my bad english)

We have to create a challenge for each other that the other has to do.
I challenged her to do this one ( see vid) and if she succeed she gets forever fame and for each challenge 1 point... if she loses she has to touch a snail  :D her greatest enemy. Because i am cruel.
I already said i was in a good mood today so i decided to give her a free ticket she can use in one challenge of her choice. If she uses it she doesn't need to do the challenge.

"Weird Al" Yankovic - Word Crimes

This is true. If I'm surfing on facebook or twitter and i see BIG word crimes , it annoys me. Only if it's really stupid , everybody makes mistakes but please just try to write things right.
We are non- native english speakers and we make mistakes on spelling.
Please let us know if we do , we try our best to write everything in proper english. :)

NailArt: ladybug

Step 1: Red base coat
Step 2: Black nail tips
Step 3: Small black line in the center of the nail 
Step 4: Black dots on both sides of the line
Step 5: 2 white dots in the black part of the nail tip => the eyes
Step 6: In the white dots 2 little black dots => the eyes

for the line and the dots you can use a toothpick :)
